Editorial Policy

Yaw Blackson is an independent platform focused on public interest reporting, accountability, and governance in Ghana. This Editorial Policy explains how we approach our work.

1. Our Mission
We exist to examine how power is exercised, how public resources are managed, and how policy decisions affect ordinary citizens. Our goal is to produce clear, evidence-based reporting and analysis that serves the public interest.

2. Independence
This platform is independent. We are not owned or controlled by any political party, government institution, or corporate interest. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of public interest, newsworthiness, and accuracy.

3. Accuracy and Fairness
We are committed to accuracy. We strive to verify information using official documents, primary sources, and credible secondary sources before publication. Where errors are identified, we will correct them promptly and transparently.

We aim to treat subjects of our reporting fairly. Where serious criticism or allegations are made, we make reasonable efforts to offer the relevant parties an opportunity to respond.

4. Sources
We rely on:

• Official reports and public records
• Statements from institutions and public officials
• Credible news reporting and data
• On-the-record interviews and correspondence where possible

Anonymous sources are used only when necessary to protect individuals from harm or reprisal, and only when the information is considered important to the public interest.

5. Distinction Between News and Opinion
We clearly distinguish between factual reporting and opinion or analysis. Opinion pieces reflect the views of the author and are presented as such.

6. Corrections and Updates
If a significant error is brought to our attention, we will investigate and, where necessary, issue a correction or update. Minor updates may be made without a formal note; substantial corrections will be acknowledged.

7. Conflicts of Interest
Contributors are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could reasonably affect the credibility of their work. We do not accept payment or favours in exchange for favourable coverage.

8. Sponsored Content and Advertising
Any sponsored or paid content will be clearly labelled as such. Advertising (including Google AdSense) does not influence editorial decisions.

9. Reader Engagement
We welcome feedback, corrections, and story tips. Readers may contact us through the Contact page. Abusive or defamatory comments will not be tolerated.

10. Commitment to the Public Interest
Our primary obligation is to the public. We prioritise stories that promote transparency, accountability, and informed citizenship.
